Music Institute Fall Fundraiser Concert Supports Scholarships and Financial Aid, Sunday, Nov. 3 at Nichols Concert Hall
The Music Institute of Chicago will present a joyful afternoon of performances by faculty and students, culminating in a community sing. on Sunday, This concert taking place Sunday, November 3 at 3 p.m. at Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Avenue, Evanston supports the nearly $500,000 in scholarships and financial aid the Music Institute provides each year. The program features performances by members of the Music Institute’s world-class faculty, as well as selected students and ensembles from its Community Music School and Academy for gifted pre-college musicians. “This event, open to the public, provides a great opportunity to experience some of what the Music Institute offers,” said President and CEO Mark George. “Guests can see and hear our faculty and students, meet and mingle afterwards to learn more about the Music Institute, and support an important community resource in Evanston as well as music scholarships that enable people, who might otherwise not have the opportunity, to study music.” “Financial aid is the key to making the exceptional teaching and resources of the Music Institute accessible to all families, regardless of economic status,” George continued. “This support also plays an integral role in making our commitment to serving a diverse community of learners a reality.” The Music Institute also announces the recipients of the second annual Teacher of Note Awards, which honor and express appreciation for the people who live the Music Institute’s mission every day: the internationally acclaimed, award-winning faculty. The award recipients represent the excellence of the entire Music Institute faculty and demonstrate dedication, enthusiasm, and inspiration in their teaching. This year, a generous donor will match contributions up to $50,000. “We especially encourage gifts in honor of our faculty and students,” George noted. “Charitable contributions—whether specific to an event, in honor of an individual, or for general operating support—all make it possible for the Music Institute to live its mission.” A photo booth, meet and greet, and sweet treats for every guest follow the performance in the lobby. For those unable to attend in person, the concert is available via livestream micfallfundraiser24.swell.gives. While there is no ticket fee, contributions of all sizes are welcome.
