Adler Planetarium Announces “Other Worlds” – An Interactive Look at Planets

Adler Planetarium announces the opening of Other Worlds, a new permanent exhibition that explores planetary bodies throughout the universe from the familiar to the extreme including gas giants, ice giants, super Earths, rocky worlds and more. Travel beyond our solar system to learn about the more than 5,000 discovered exoplanets that orbit around other stars and get a new perspective on the planets closest to ours. Other Worlds encompasses around 6,500 feet of exhibit space and replaces the iconic Our Solar System gallery, which first opened to the public in 2012.

Spektral Quartet Posptones Summer World Premiere of Solar Eclipse Inspired Work ENIGMA at Adler Planetarium

Out of an abundance of caution, and prioritizing the safety and wellbeing of its artists and guests, the Grammy-nominated Spektral Quartet has postponed its world premiere of the multimedia work ENIGMA, in partnership with the Adler Planetarium. The work was to be presented June 11 and 12 in the Adler’s Grainger Sky Theater. A new premiere date will be announced later this year.

During its closure, the Adler Planetarium is doing their part to help the people of our planet during this unprecedented crisis. From utilizing equipment that now sits idle for scientific research and PPE production, to pushing a message about the importance of social distancing out to our community, the Adler staff and volunteer team have been busy working together against COVID-19.
