Hyde Park Art Center Announces Collaboration with the Hyde Park Jazz Festival and other Dynamic Public Programming for Fall 2024
Hyde Park Art Center, the renowned non-profit hub for contemporary art located on Chicago’s vibrant South Side, has announced its fall 2024 programming. The free, vibrant offerings showcase artists at every stage in their career, via solo and group exhibitions, artist talks, residencies, a new program for seniors, and more.
A highlight of the fall season is a performance by Chicago Poet Laureate avery r. young in the galleries of the critically-acclaimed The United Colors of Robert Earl Paige exhibition as part of the Hyde Park Jazz Festival on Saturday, September 28 at 2:00pm in celebration of the 100th anniversary of American writer James Baldwin’s birthday. Following this unique performance, young and Paige will engage in a conversation about the ways in which each artist has engaged with Baldwin’s work.
The 18th Annual Hyde Park Jazz Festival is free and held in architecturally unique venues across the Hyde Park, Kenwood, and Washington Park neighborhoods. This year’s festival lineup features over 36 free performances on September 28th and 29th, 2024. The program includes visiting national artists alongside some of Chicago’s brightest lights.
Also anchoring the season is the Hyde Park Art Center’s annual gala and after-party, taking place this year on November 15, 2024, at 5:30pm, providing support for Chicago art and artists.
The Art Center offers over 200 programs annually that are free and designed for people of all ages; for program updates and more details, visit hydeparkart.org.
