Chicago Symphony Center Celebrates the Holiday Season
This season, Chicago Symphony Center transforms into Chicago’s home for the holidays as it decks the halls for concertgoers to experience a festive array of seasonal concerts and special offerings in November and December, 2024.
The highlight of holiday programming is Merry, Merry Chicago! The festive concert will be presented six times between Wednesday, December 18 – Monday, December 23, 2024. The program features members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony Chorus conducted by Alastair Willis in a program of festive orchestral selections, familiar carols, holiday songs and several surprises, including a rousing encore of the cherished local favorite “Christmas in Chicago.” As an extra treat for holiday concertgoers, before each Merry, Merry Chicago! performance and during intermissions, choirs from Chicago area schools and community ensembles will share music throughout the lobby spaces of Symphony Center.
In addition to the Merry, Merry Chicago performances, the CSO will also offer five unique holiday concerts including; Tchaikovsky Swan Lake (November 21-23, 2024), The Wizard of Oz in Concert (November 29-December 1, 2024), Vienna Boys Choir: Christmas in Vienna (November 30, 2024), A Chanticleer Christmas (December 10, 2024), and everyone’s favorite holiday helper, Elf in Concert (December 13-15, 2024).
The CSO will also offer a number of specials programs in November and December 2024, including; Jason Moran and the Harlem Hellfighters (November 22, 2024), Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR): Voices of Migration & Innovation (November 24, 2024), Berliner Philharmoniker (November 26, 2024), Winter Quartet Plays Mahler, Saariaho & Fauré (December 3, 2024), Grieg & Rachmaninov (December 5-7, 2024), Once Upon a Symphony: The Little Red Hen (December 7, 2024 – February 1, 2025), Yashima Conducts Mahler 5 (December 9, 2024), and The Tempest & The Sea Hawk (December 12-14, 2024).
