Chicago Jazz Philharmonic Collaborates with Kehrein Center for “Havana Blue Celebration
Chicago Jazz Philharmonic (CJP) Collaborates with Kehrein Center for the Arts for Unforgettable Evening.
On Saturday, November 2, at 7:00 p.m., the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic (CJP) will present Havana Blue, a dynamic symphonic jazz masterpiece, as part of its 20th Anniversary Celebration at 5628 W Washington Blvd, Chicago, IL 60644.
This vibrant concert will transport audiences to the captivating sounds of Havana, inspired by the rich cultural tapestry of Cuba. Havana Blue, originally conceived by CJP’s artistic director, Orbert Davis, following his 2012 trip to Cuba, encapsulates the spirit, passion, and rhythms of Afro-Cuban life.
First premiered at Chicago’s Auditorium Theatre in 2013, this production celebrates the CJP’s deep-rooted connection to Cuba through its residency at the Universidad de las Artes (ISA).
“The music of CJP crosses boundaries on every level, paving the way for the full appreciation of all cultures and sounds. Our integration of classical and jazz creates a shared experience for everyone involved—audience and musicians alike,” says Orbert Davis.
Reesheda Graham Washington, executive director of KCA, adds, “We are thrilled to partner with Chicago Jazz Philharmonic during this significant milestone and are committed to bringing the richness of Cuba’s cultural heritage to life right here in the heart of Chicago’s West Side.”
